BMW E34 M5
Creating absolute automotive excellence has been BMW M's specialty and priority for years. They partially demonstrated this when designing the E34 M5 that hit the market in 1988.
As the last M5 being built entirely by hand, it featured a 3.6-litre naturally aspirated straight-six engine producing 311 horsepower and accelerating from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in just under six seconds. In 1992, BMW M decided not to settle for that and designed a 3.8-litre engine delivering 335 horsepower, propelling this beast from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in less than six seconds. To keep all that power somewhat in check, all models were electronically limited to 250 kilometres per hour. In addition to lots of horsepower, the M5 was ingeniously designed, featuring the innovative BMW M System, which provided more efficient brake cooling through cleverly designed rims.
The E34 M5 is a highly coveted young-timer, with the ambition to soon join BMW's eternal classics. It also offers the rarely seen combination of sportiness and usability.
