The Chrysler Town and Country was manufactured from 140 to 1942, then from 1945 to 1988, and finally from 1990 to the present.  It was available as a sedan, coupe and convertible from 1947 to 1950, and from 1983 to 1986.  It was distinguished, in its first versions, by wooden panels on the sides and on the rear trunk.  It was not the only one to do so, as AMC, Buick, Ford and others followed the same configuration.

In 1989, Chrysler reintroduced the original name, which was actually a variation of the Dodge Gran Caravan and Plymouth Grand Voyager.  The new Town and Country was also available with imitation wood panels, recalling its distant origins.
