Porsche 993 1997 Occasion par Cathedral Classics

History

The Porsche 993 is the fourth generation of the Porsche 911 model sports car manufactured and sold between January 1994 and early 1998, replacing the 964. Its discontinuation marked the end of air-cooled 911 models. According to Porsche, every part of the 993 was designed from the ground up, including the engine and only 20% of its parts were carried over from the previous generation. Porsche refers to the 993 as “a significant advance, not just from a technical, but also a visual perspective.” The external design of the Porsche 993 was penned by English designer Tony Hatter and retained the basic body shell architecture of the 964 and other earlier 911 models, but with revised exterior panels with much more flared wheel arches, a smoother front and rear bumper design, an enlarged retractable rear wing, and wonderful teardrop mirrors. This particular German supplied example was delivered to its new owner in March 1997 from the Porsche Zentrum in Limburg, Germany. Wind forward some 28 years and it has now 111,400 kilometers experience backed up with an immaculate Porsche service history containing no less than an astonishing 23 service stamps. Just three custodians have had the pleasure of this wonderful example with the forth now eagerly anticipated by Cathedral Classics.

Exterior

Crafted under the artistic direction of renowned English designer Tony Hatter, the Porsche 993 showcases a timeless silhouette that pays homage to its iconic predecessors while embracing contemporary design cues. Its distinctive profile features elegantly flared wheel arches, seamlessly integrated smoother front and rear bumpers, an enlarged retractable rear wing, and iconic teardrop mirrors, culminating in a harmonious blend of heritage and innovation. Presented in a captivating metallic black finish (colour code L744), this exemplary specimen retains much of its original factory coat, exuding an aura of authenticity and refinement. Minor touch-ups on the bonnet and driver’s wing were expertly executed to address imperfections, ensuring the car’s aesthetic appeal remains uncompromised. During its short tenure in Spain in 2012, the car underwent a meticulous roof replacement, a testament to its owner’s unwavering commitment to preserving its pristine condition in the face of adversity. Included with the car is a luxurious Porsche-emblemed pyjama dust cover in cream, offering unparalleled protection during garage storage and reflecting the meticulous care bestowed upon this automotive masterpiece.
